From a great passion, to a great company
At just 17, Luigi Dattilo—our founder and Chairman—turned down his father’s offer of a car and asked for a truffle‑hunting dog instead. Self‑taught and driven by a deep love of nature, he soon unearthed his very first white truffle—and with it, the fairy‑tale beginning of Appennino Food Group.

Pretty soon, word of Luigi’s passion spread through the valleys, and Appennino Food Group took off. But it wasn’t just success that drove him—it was a lesson from his family about sharing. Today, we don’t merely sell truffles; we invite you into our world, weaving our story into every bite.
While truffles—and their woodland cousins, mushrooms—remain our pride, we’ve grown to offer a curated selection of Italian treasures (and a few gems from beyond our borders). Each jar, tin, and bottle is crafted with the same devotion Luigi showed as a teenager: respect for the ingredient, pride in the process, and a love that you can taste.
This is more than a business—it’s a journey of heart and grit. From that very first white truffle to becoming a leading name in the global truffle scene, Appennino Food Group has held fast to its roots: authenticity, quality, and the joy of sharing Italy’s finest with the world.
Love of nature, curiosity for innovation, passion and respect for the raw ingredients.
As our family’s passion for truffles and mushrooms blossomed into a worldwide presence, we knew our story needed a single, unmistakable voice. So we set out to forge a cohesive brand—one that reflects our heritage, our values, and the care we pour into every jar and tin.
Now, every product and every location wears the Appennino signature with pride. From the rolling hills of Valsamoggia to kitchens across the globe, our unified image speaks volumes about who we are: champions of tradition, advocates for quality, and storytellers at heart.
